A Synthetic Symphony is an ambient quasi orchestral work in 3 parts.
The EP consists of three compositions created separately and then continuously layered over one another, gradually being stretched and manipulated by synthesis throughout the 3 parts. J.J. Hathaway created the work in isolation, creating the work through recording acoustic instruments, using electronic technologies and synthesisers. The EP features the cellist Izzy Austin.
